Digimon Adventure 02 Coming back with a new feature film, the new movie promises to offer the first ever human DigiDestined to collaborate with partner Digimon! As the previous franchise celebrates its 20th anniversary, fans have seen the original eight kids chosen return for not only a new rebooted TV series, but a new feature film that culminated in the old adventures seen across Digimon Adventure 02, tri and Last Evolution Kizuna. Now the kids of the season two set will get a chance to star in the next major franchise movie.
While DigiDestined was presented in . format Digimon Adventure 02 were sidelined for Digimon Adventure Triple And the Last Evolution KizunaThe next major movie will be starring older versions of it after the events of Last Evolution Kizuna. Besides reintroducing these select kids into their twenties, the movie also sparks the excitement that we’ll meet our first DigiDestined, a mysterious boy named Owada Rui and a mysterious new Digimon, Ukkomon. Officially named Digimon Adventure 02: The BeginningThe new movie was confirmed two years after the events of Last Evolution Kizuna. Director Tomohisa Taguchi and writer Akatsuki Yamatoya are returning from this movie for this new project, and the return of the original Digimon Adventure 02 team has also been announced. Owada Rui will be voiced by Megumi Ogata (Yuta Okkotsu from Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Shinji Ikari from Neon Genesis Evangelion) and Ukkomon (who will likely be his partner) and Ukkomon (who will likely be his partner) will be voiced by Rie Kugimiya (Alphonse Elric’s Happy from Fullmetal Alchemist).
The first stills from that movie were shown during a special DigiFes event in Japan earlier this summer, but no word has been given yet when fans outside the event will be able to see footage from the new movie for themselves. There is still no confirmation about a potential release window or date, let alone any possible information about an international release. Given the response to previous films, it will likely be released internationally.
